It has certainly been a long journey to get to this stage. But I am extremely happy to say that we have officially shipped the first lot of machines to their new forever home.  While it was nerve-racking to see them all set up outside of our control, it was also a feeling of relief that we have made it this far.

Thank you for being with us on the journey so far.

Over the next few weeks we will be sending machines out in small batches in order to track how the shipping process fairs with the packaging, as well as how people do the unboxing experience and setup. We have already found a few aspects that we completely overlooked – such as making sure to mention in the quick start that Cura should be version 5.3 or better for the print profiles to successfully import. Or to add a sticker on the inside of the printer for safely removing the internal packaging.

ALSO, you can now see the final logo in the photo, It’s a really classy gold which we think suits the machine perfectly.

What to expect

When you receive your printers, it will be in the form of a multi part cardboard box with strapping holding it together. Simply cut the strapping, take off the protective corner pads and simply remove the printer from the box.  Be careful of the metal crimps on the strapping; While most are completely safe to touch, we have noticed a few have some quite sharp edges when they get crimped onto the straps – I really don’t want anyone to christen a printer with their own blood.

Inside the printer will be a cardboard sleeve wedged between the extruder gantry and bed. This is to stop any movement of the bed during shipping, But it also includes the screen safely bubble wrapped inside of it.  Simply twist and slide out the sleeve, and remove the accessory pack under the bed.

Printer accessory pack

The accessory pack will include additional motherboard connectors which were not used, the power cable,  and any additional tools or addons that come with your order. The pack also includes a printed Benchy. This Benchy is the only thing the printer has printed, and included on the printer is the exact file that printed that benchy. If you print the Benchy as your very first print, you can check the (Hopefully lack of) differences  between them to determine if the printer safely made it’s way through transit.

Everything else is either listed in the form of stickers on the printer or included in the manual.

Lastly, we are constantly updating our print profiles as we gather data, and you can get all the print profiles and slicer presets from this link: Downloads – Construct3D (construct-3d.com)

Hopefully the next update will be the announcement that the XL printers have started to ship. While we expect our packaging is overkill already, it’s better to send out the smaller printers first to validate if we need and reinforcement before the larger and more expensive machines get shipped. The last thing we want is you to receive damaged equipment.

If you have any questions, feel free to email us – we are more than happy to chat and work things out.

Signing off
